Idiot Of The Week

The story you are about to read is true. Names are omitted due to stupid HPPA Laws...

In the middle of my ER shift, around 6:00pm, there was a commotion at the front window & I overheard the charge nurse calling 911 [huh?]
I went to the window to investigate, I saw a small red SUV had smacked into the utility pole on the corner, totally taking it out at ground level. Several doctors, nurses, & techs were at the car helping the victim...
Turns out the driver had just left Fast Track with a broken right foot, on crutches, wearing a pneumatic boot. Instead of calling her husband for a ride or getting a cab, she'd decided to drive home....
So the Rocket Scientist sped out of the parking lot, her foot (the broken one w/the pneumatic boot on it) got stuck on the gas, & she plowed into the pole on the corner, right outside the ER.
Fortunately, no one else was hurt.
The patient was admitted to the main ED, and recieved stat xrays & blood/urine tests. She tested positive for benztrophine...
Duh.
She's being kept overnight for observation.
The hospital will probably get sued.
